Gruffalo is a captivating adaptation of a folk tale designed for children aged 3 to 7 and their families. This enchanting performance of paper puppets and shadow puppetry, accompanied by an original musical score, blends Eastern and Western artistic traditions to offer a unique and immersive cultural experience.
The sets and puppets, inspired by the traditional Iranian art of miniature painting, harmonize beautifully with a soundtrack that combines Eastern and Western instruments, creating a rich and evocative atmosphere. Through this artistic dialogue between cultures, Gruffalo invites audiences to rediscover the poetry and creativity of puppet theater.
The story follows the adventures of a clever little mouse searching for a nut in the forest, who encounters several dangerous predators along the way. Using her wit, she invents a terrifying creature called the Gruffalo to outsmart them and escape their traps.
After the show, children are invited to participate in an interactive workshop called “Create Your Own Imaginary Little monster.” Using recycled materials like paper and cardboard and guided by the artists of Valise Théâtre, they learn the basics of paper puppet-making and bring their own creations to life. At the end of the workshop, each child leaves with a unique creation and a small paper puppet, ready to continue the magic at home.
