Gruffalo

language: Fr / En

Created in 2016
Target audience: Ages 3 and up.

Inspired by the traditional Chinese folktale, Gruffalo comes to life through Valise Théâtre’s unique approach using paper puppets and shadow play in this engaging performance for children aged 3 to 7.
In this story, a little mouse ventures into the forest in search of a hazelnut but encounters hungry creatures who would love to eat her. Fortunately, she is clever and resourceful, and she invents a terrifying monster named Gruffalo to scare them away.
Set to an original score blending Eastern and Western instruments, the show is visually enriched by sets and puppets inspired by Persian miniature painting, creating an artistic bridge between Quebec and the East.
Following the performance, Valise Théâtre’s artists invite children to participate in a creative workshop, where they will design and build their own paper puppet theatre. The workshop is free and open to children who have attended the performance, with prior registration.
